ALT CAMP


Alt Camp region receives in all their villages a great number of workshops of craftsmanship that keep alive these traditional professions. In we find a big fan: instrument maker craftsmen, founders, forgers, potters, leather dressers and one long etc. One may highlight the work that has the association of craftsmen of Alt Camp region, bringing the great majority of the craftsmen of the region together.

CONCA DE BARBERÀ

The artistic forge of the iron has had and still keeps having a great tradition in L'Espluga de Francolí . Continued thanks to the work of three generations of blacksmiths and forgers most of their work can be contemplated in the Real Monastery of Santa María de Poblet . The museum of the glass of Vimbodí lodges important pieces and utensils of that industry. At present it is returned to fabricate glass and to show the technique of the blow and of the work of the warm glass. A craftsman school is in operation in this museum.
The alabaster is the exponent that has taken the name of Sarral to all the world markets. One of the prettiest works made with this material is the altarpiece of the biggest altar of Poblet .
The artistic ceramics of La Conca de Barberà are divided up among Montblanc , Solivella , Senan , Forès , Pira, Vallclara , Vimbodí and Belltall . The villages of Solivella , Senan and Forès are part of the Route of Ceramics .

On the first floor, visitors enter an area dedicated to the history of glass since its origins to the present day. Next there is a section concerned with glass making in Vimbodí. There is also a splendid collection of glass made in the town's old furnaces. A section dedicated to the ancient craft of basket weaving complements the exhibition.
On the ground floor of the museum some furnaces have been set up where a Master Glass Maker demonstrates how handcrafted glass is made.
